BOYS VOLLEYBALL . . . STARTS AT IGNITE

For those who don't know me, my name is Martin Esquivel, and I have dedicated my coaching career to developing athletes, building strong team cultures, and growing the game of volleyball. I currently serve as the Head Men's Volleyball Coach at Central Christian College of Kansas, where I have spent the past several seasons building a competitive collegiate program while also serving as an assistant coach with the women's program. Before coaching, I played NCAA Division III men's volleyball at Hiram College as a middle blocker. During my time at Central Christian, our program has produced multiple All-Conference student-athletes, with players earning Second Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference honors, while several athletes have ranked among the conference leaders in assists, blocks, and digs. More importantly, I have focused on creating an environment where student-athletes develop as leaders, students, and competitors.

I'm also excited to begin a new chapter as a coach with Ignite Wichita Volleyball Club, where my passion extends beyond winning matches. My goal is to help establish one of the strongest developmental environments for boys volleyball in Kansas by providing athletes with high-level coaching, competitive opportunities, and a pathway to play at the collegiate level. Boys volleyball continues to grow across the country, and Kansas has tremendous, untapped potential. I believe that with the right investment, coaching, and community support, we can build something special that opens doors for future generations of athletes.

Every new opportunity comes with skepticism. There will always be people who question whether boys volleyball can succeed in Kansas or whether investing in its growth is worthwhile. Rather than responding to criticism with words, I intend to answer with action. Success is built through consistency, hard work, and a commitment to serving athletes and families. My focus isn't on proving doubters wrong—it's on proving what's possible. If we continue to invest in our players, our coaches, and our community, the results will speak for themselves.

This is about laying the foundation for the future of boys volleyball in Kansas. Every practice, clinic, open gym, and match is another step toward creating opportunities that haven't always existed for young athletes in our state. Building a successful program doesn't happen overnight—it requires vision, consistency, and a community that believes in something bigger than today's results. My commitment is to help establish a culture centered on accountability, hard work, and player development while creating a clear pathway for boys to discover, grow, and excel in the sport.
